Like the Frankenstein book my daughter and I re-covered a couple of weeks ago.  I did the same with a copy of The Hobbit I found in a charity shop.

This is what the original cover looked like before I made the new hardcover, also you can see the cover removed from the book.

I wanted to cover the book with a hardcover in a blue material and use the same iron on vinyl used for my daughter’s copy of Frankenstein.  The cover design I liked was from the first edition of the book.  Click the link to show you more images of the original edition at The Tolkien Library Store.

So I got designing and cut the vinyl out on my Silhouette Cameo and ironed it onto the cover once the design was weeded.

As you can see there are some slight differences between my cover and the original.  But I’m overall very happy with the finished result.

Thanks for reading, and hope to see you again!
