Welcome to Creasing Paper.  I thought I would start this site with an introduction, and I’m hoping you’ll continue visiting along my travels learning new skills and crafts.

What will this site be about?

Well, this site is all about crafting.  I love to create things from scratch, and I’ve had a go at most things.  Which can be anything from getting the sewing machine out and making pillowcases and cushions, right up to having a go at using resin.

As you may have guessed from the name of the site, my passion is working with paper.  It’s a flat bendable object made from wood pulp (as well as many other things) yet you can do a lot with it!

I started many years ago when I was in my early twenties when I would make birthday cards.  I’d put a design together in Photoshop, print it, and then fold it.  I also started to make my envelopes for the homemade cards.  And that’s how it all started for me.

I purchased years later a Silhouette Cameo 2 by Silhouette America…which I still have to this day and I think I’ve had this for about 11 years, but it still works a treat (hope I haven’t jinxed it now?).

I’ve spent many an hour using my Cameo 2 to cut intricate parts out of paper and cards and glue them together to make some cool birthday and Christmas cards.  Having the satisfaction of handing a card to someone which was designed and handmade by me.

I then started looking into bookbinding.  I don’t know about you but I do love a notebook to fill with ideas…and I have my fair share of notebooks half-filled here and there with ideas and doodles.  I had a go at making my first notebook about 7 or 8 years ago, and this continued as I just loved making them.  I’ve made hardback notebooks and softback ones.  I picked up the skill by watching many videos on YouTube and scouring the internet for tutorials.

So in a nutshell…this site is all about crafting!

Who am I?

I’m in my late 40’s, living in London with my wife, and our two kids…actually, our eldest is a full-blown adult now!  And of course not forgetting our two cats Shadow (the eldest) and Ziggy (the youngest).

They both like to sit and help me when I am working on projects!  This is Ziggy helping me write this post.

I wanted to start this website for a couple of reasons.  The first is a personal reason.  I had stopped with my craft work about 3-4 years ago due to suffering with my mental health, anxiety and depression.

I had lost all interest in basically doing anything.  Just 7 months ago I got the help I needed, and in the last couple of months, I’ve started to get back into a better place, where the crafting has started again!  It’s helping me to keep my mind busy and think about other things rather than the low places I have been to in the past!

Lastly, I love to share and with that, I’m hoping others will be able to get something out of this website and learn or even get ideas from it.
